Have a look at what we’ve been learning…
We have had a super time in Reception today making and eating pancakes. We read a story called ‘Mr Wolf’s Pancakes’ then wrote our shopping lists for our pancake ingredients. We then followed the instructions to make our own pancake and chose the toppings that we wanted. Yummy!
This week the children found a penguin who was lost. The rapid response team then came to visit us to teach the children what to in case the children were ever lost. They taught us how to stay safe and how to seek help safely.
The children in Reception are thoroughly enjoying their weekly forest school sessions. We have learnt many skills such as- cooking, pond dipping, den building and how to climb trees.
Fire Station Visit
The children in Reception visited the fire station at Crook. We travelled on the public bus which was an exciting experience. The children learned a great deal about fire safety. Whilst on our adventure, the children had the opportunity to explore Crook marketplace comparing it to their home village.
To celebrate a successful first half term and to also link with our topic ‘Elmer’, the children in reception enjoyed a small party/parade. The children enjoyed planning for this parade; they made invitations and many decorations. As the topic included celebrating differences, the children came to school wearing their favourite colour clothing.
The children are thoroughly enjoying their weekly reading time session with a family member. Reading time is at the end of the school day every Monday. It is a chance for the children to share their favourite stories with a loved one.
