Have a look at what we’ve been learning…
Collage ‘Dancing Figures’
As part of our Art lessons, we have been learning about the famous artist ‘Henri Matisse’. The children have researched his work and his life to find out why he created his wonderful masterpieces.
Matisse became ill, ended up in a wheelchair, and was unable to paint in style he was use to, so he came up with a new style and called it ‘Painting with Scissor’. The children were challenged to create their own art piece based on the same style and used scissors, a variety of warm and cool colours to create a collage with a focus on dancing figures.
We sent Megan Coyle an email with all the children work and she has now replied and put some of the children’s work on her blog. To view the blog click here.
Year 4 presented their class assembly to the whole school, family and friends. They told everyone all about what they had been learning about rivers in Geography. They explained all about the different features of rivers and provided everyone with lots of facts, testing their family and friends with a quiz at the end.
This week, children have been learning about narrative poetry based on Willow Pattern by Tony Mitton. They have learnt to use intonation and expression within their reading of the poem and have rewritten the poem in story form. To hear their recitals please click here.
Following on from the poetry readings of the Willow tree, the children wrote the poem out as a narrative story. Bringing all their ideas and descriptive writing together, they recorded their versions of the story which can also be heard on the link above.
Year 4 have been writing Riddles in their English lessons. They went on to perform them in front of the camera. Have a look at their performances here.
On Wednesday Year 4 attended a rugby fest at Bishop Barrington School. They took part in a range of games and activities to help them develop their rugby skills. All the children thoroughly enjoyed their morning.
