The Eco Warriors presented a whole school assembly on Wednesday 16th March all about Earth Hour. They explained how hundreds of millions of people from across the world will switch off their lights at 8.30pm on Saturday 19th March for one hour, to show they care about the future of our brilliant planet.
WWF’s Earth Hour is a time for us all to think about why we love the planet and how we can make a difference, collectively and as individuals. It’s not about how much energy is saved during the hour – it’s a chance to inspire millions across the world to live more sustainably.
Find out more information and sign up at wwf.org.uk/earthhour to say you’ll be switching off for the world’s largest display of hope for a bright future.
We met with Mrs Kitching today to ask if we could start pupil voice blogs on the school website – and it was a YES! From now on each pupil voice group will be able to add a blog to their group page to let you know what’s been going on.
We also asked if there could be an area on the website for children to post their own short stories; videos and artwork; a Mathletics leader board and a team events page.

On Thursday Paula George came into school from Durham County Council to carry out an assembly on recycling. Our school’s Eco Team have been learning all about Waste and as it was Waste Week they felt it was important to teach everyone about the importance of recycling.
We learned all about the different types of materials that can and can’t be recycled and the importance of making sure they are clean and not mixed up. Paula also brought Cando the Recycled dog along; he is made entirely out of recycled materials.
