On Tuesday, this week we had a visit from School of Rocks, who delivered a school assembly and told all about the geology of Weardale.
Year 3 were lucky enough to then take part in a Geology workshop after the assembly, where they were able to become geologists. In the workshop, they were given a pet rock to look after and investigate as they took part in a stratigraphy game. Here they had to study the layers of rock, their environments and how changes in climate can affect rocks. After this, they took part in an experiment where they used sugar cubes to see how much water would pass through clay. You can see the Year 3’s in action by viewing their class page here.
Thank you School of Rocks!
